My name is Mauricio, and I have a long-standing passion for teaching and tutoring mathematics. I earned a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from UCLA in 2000, followed by a master's degree in Education and a California Secondary Mathematics Teaching Credential in 2003. With more than 20 years of experience in teaching and tutoring, I bring both deep subject expertise and a strong understanding of how students learn mathematics at different stages.

My background includes four years teaching middle school Pre-Algebra and five years teaching high school mathematics, including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Precalculus, and AP Statistics. I currently serve as an Instructional Support Specialist, where I tutor community college students in subjects ranging from algebra through differential equations. While I support a broad spectrum of mathematics courses, my primary area of focus is statistics, and I enjoy helping students approach this often-challenging subject with greater confidence and understanding.

My tutoring style is patient, structured, and student-centered. I focus on clear explanations, step-by-step problem solving, and developing strong conceptual understanding so students learn not only how to solve problems, but why mathematical methods work. I adapt my approach to each student's learning style and encourage questions in a supportive environment. My goal is to help students build confidence, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and become independent learners.
