For each of the questions above, the x-intercept is found by setting y = 0 and solving for x; whereas the y-intercept is found by setting x = 0, and solving for y. I will show an example below:

Example: 3x + 4y = 12

Finding x-intercept:
Let us set y = 0 in the equation above.
3x+4*0=12
3x = 12
x = 12/3
x = 4
----------------------------------
Finding the y-intercept:
Let us set x = 0.
3*0 + 4y = 12
4y =12
y = 12/4
y = 3
