Is there a reason a tutor would not have a passed background check on their profile?

In addition to what Tanya mentioned, if a tutor does not pass the Wyzant background check, their accounts will immediately be closed and students will be notified. Below please find the language from Wyzant's Background Check Policy:

"Wyzant will deactivate the account of any tutor who does not pass a background check or any tutor who does not provide the necessary information and authorization for a background check when requested within a certain period of time. Additionally, we will alert any students the tutor may have contacted while part of the Wyzant community that the tutor has not met the background check requirements of the site."

A background check for tutors requires an extra $15.99, and some tutors don't want to (or cannot afford to) pay that price.
