g(x) and u(x) are not polynomials. g(x) is a square root function and u(x) is a rational function( its 'x' value is in the denominator). To be clear, a non-polynomial function is simply any function with a square root, negative exponent, rational function, or trig ratios( cos, sin, tan etc). The rest are polynomials.
