To determine what the domain is, ask yourself, "Are there any values of "x" that I cannot use in y = 5(3x)?" Can you select a small positive number like 4? Can you select large positive numbers like 1000? Can you select zero? How about -2? How about -1000? Then, ask yourself what you get when you plug in those values of "x". Is there a pattern you can see?
Regarding a real life situation, you could say that you have bacteria that triple in population every hour and that you start with 5. "x" is the number of hours that goes by and "y" is the number of bacteria.
