I need to learn to use filezilla and dreamweaver to edit remote web files.

I've used filezilla and dreamweaver for editing files that live on a remote server, but the combination is no longer working. Filezilla either crashes or does not load the file requested into dreamweaver. Something's wrong, and I have searched the web in vain for a resolution.

Here are a few things to check:

1. Contact the hosting provider on their end to see if anything changed (username password credentials, FTP versus SFTP etc.) on their end?
2. Check the port. Did you try port 21 or another port?
3. Try creating a new site definition from scratch. Delete the old one. Try this on filezilla
4. If you still can't connect, what does the FTP log say? Window > Results > FTP log.
5. Last but not lease check and see if your Firewall is preventing a connection
