1. This question says, "How many more of __________ than __________? The 3 words - "How many more.." are key words that let you know you will subtract. So the larger bag of rice is 534 grams and the smaller bag is 189 grams. To figure how much more the larger one weighs than the smaller one, you will need to subtract 189 from 534. 534 - 189 = 345. So the larger bag is 345 grams larger than the smaller bag. 2. "How much does Bo's dog weigh," is the question. Always ask yourself, "What is the question I need to answer?" So the problems tells us Bo's dog weighs 4 times as much as Aja's cat. Aja's cat weighs 12 pounds so 4 x 12 = 48. Bo's dog weighs 48 pounds. 3. What is the question? Is it , "Has Isa drunk enough water?" If so, the answer is no. 9 cups of water on each of the first 4 days would be 36 cups of water. 36 is less than 56. We need to know what she drank on the remaining days of the week (other 3 days of the week) to see if she consumed enough to make 56 cups for the week. 4. What is the question?
