Upper Egypt is in the southern part of Eqypt. It consists of the entire Nile River Valley from Cairo south to Lake Nasser.

It seemed to be that the Israelites went east to escape the Egyptians

so that would put the NIle to the east of Egypt

and Egypt is the region to the west of the Nile River which overflowed its banks long ago, maybe due to an earthquake and tsunami

but those mostly about lower egypt. for some reason upper egypt is below lower egypt. where the egypt is more to the east of the nile than in lower egypt.

try looking at a map. the nile goes through egypt cutting it in eastern and western parts. some to the east some to the west.
