Based on his symptoms and behaviors, Chi seems to have Bipolar Disorder. Bipolar Disorder is a mental illness categorized by extreme mood swings. People with this disorder experience periods of depression followed by periods of mania. Chi experienced mania during the two weeks when he felt euphoric, overly optimistic, and hyperactive. Recklessly investing $10,000 against advice from loved ones indicates the impulsivity and disregard that are characteristic of a manic episode. Chi moved into a depressive episode when he began to feel sadness and despair. The consistency of these feelings and the hyposomnia are indicative of depression.
