asked 01/26/23helppppp I don't know how to do this
Point A(-7,20) is one of the ends of segment AD. On this segment, point B and point C(-1,8) are peeled so that |AB|=|BC|=CD|. Give the coordinates of points B and D.

Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
A(-7,20), C(-1,8)
B is midway between A and C
B=(-4,14) the coordinates of B are the average of the coordinates of A and C
AC is 2/3 of AD
D is (2,2)
from A to B, the x coordinate increased by 3 and the y coordinate decreased by 6, same with from B to C and from C to D so D = (-1+3, 8-6) = (2,2)
check the solution
the line equation has slope = -6/3 = -2
the equation is y=-2x +6
plug in each point
2=-2(2)+6 = -4+6=2 for D
8=-2(-1)+6 = 2+6=8 for C
20=-2(-7)+6 = 14+6=20 for A
14=-2(-4)+6 = 8+6 =14 for B
it probably helps to plot the points and graph the line
to see what's going on better
B and C divide AD into thirds
line segment lengths of AB=BC=CD
