Josephina makes monthly deposits into her account. She opened the account with an initial deposit of $50. Each month thereafter, she increased the deposit by $20 from the previous deposit amount.

Two years later, how much has Josephina deposited in this account?

(Use an expression using sigma notation for partial sums).

Sequence starts with $20 and goes up from there with a "d" of $20. Then add the initial $50 at the end. Answer is $6,050. (24/2)[(2)(20) + (23)(20)] + 50. Try it the old-fashioned way to check..

Is Josephine adding $20 to her account each month. OR is she increasing the AMOUNT of her deposit each month? For example, $20 the first time, $40 second time, $60 the third time etc.?
