Estar is used mainly for location and characteristics that change, such as Estoy cansada. (I am tired). However, ser is used for more permanent things such as Soy una mujer. (I am a woman).
What is the difference in use between "estar" and "ser" in Spanish?

Estar is generally used with location and state of being(health, emotions, clean, dirty, dry, alive, deceased, married, divorced, pregnant, etc.) A rhyme to help is : For how you feel and where you are, always use the verb estar.
Ser is generally everything else. This would include genetic tendencies(tall, short, brunette, gender, skin color, etc .) Also included are personality, origin(from the USA, French, Italian, etc.), profession(teacher, officer, president, etc.), Time expressions use 'ser'. Son las tres.
Overall example: Mi amigo está aburrido. ( My friend is bored. It is his current state of being.) Mi amigo es aburrido. (He is a boring person. It is who he is, generally.)

In Spanish, "estar" and "ser" are both verbs that can be translated as "to be" in English. However, they are used in different contexts and have slightly different meanings.
"Estar" is used to describe a temporary state or condition. It is used to describe how something is at a particular moment, or how someone feels. For example:
- Estoy cansado (I am tired)
- La comida está caliente (The food is hot)
"Ser" is used to describe a permanent or inherent characteristic. It is used to describe the nature or identity of something. For example:
- Soy alto (I am tall)
- Ella es mi hermana (She is my sister)
It's important to note that these are general guidelines, and there are many exceptions and nuances to the use of "estar" and "ser" in Spanish.
