The Green Revolution has had major environmental effects from the over usage of the soil from double cropping and the increased use of chemical fertilizers/pesticides, and also the over irrigation of the soil. This has resulted in the decrease of soil fertility with the increase of soil salinization and soil erosion.
Another major impact of the green revolution is the expensive cost of using the new technologies and modern methods of farming that have come from the green revolution. Many farmers living in LDCs might struggle economically to find money to purchase the new expensive tractors or GMO seeds required to increase their agricultural production.
