The time a child spends in elementary school is used to develop skills that set that child up for future success. Skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and public speaking are important to learn at a young age, otherwise they become extremely difficult to learn later on.

In my opinion, public speaking is important to an elementary aged child as it will be used freqeuntly in the future. From presentations and speechs in school to leading projects and communicating with teams at work, it is used everywhere. Helping your child develop this particular atribute at a young age ensures that they will be able to do all this while also giving them some confidence as well.

Public speaking is a skill that many people find intimidating and daunting. This can partly be due to lack of exposure to speaking in front of others. In elementary school, students are developmentally at a place where they are a little less inhibited and are open to learning lots of things. This includes communication skills, social skills, academic skills (reading, writing, etc.). To include public speaking allows this to become a practiced task that they will be able to use throughout their lives.
