Experienced Instructor in Prealgebra, Algebra I and II, SAT/ACT Math.
The slope of the perpendicular line will have the negative reciprocal of the original line. 0.25 (or 1/4) will be -4 for the perpendicular line.
Now need to find the new y-int. y = mx + b
Use the given point: 1 = -4(-1) + b so b = -3
y = -4x - 3
