What is the biggest difference with "por" vs. "para"?

When do I use por or para for a sentence?

A way to sum it up that I recommend my students for a quick learning is: Use "para" for: 1. Destination 2. Recipient of the action 3. Purpose 4. Deadline For all the rest, use "por". This rule works 98% of the times. The other 2% can be shared between "por" and "para". And of course that there are also fixed expressions.
