asked 11/10/22System of Equations Word Problem
Arsene saves $55 per week and already saved $270. Jose has $990 and spends $35 per week. How many DAYS until Arsene and Jose have the same amount of money? And, does this problem require you to use the substitution method or the elimination method?

Another way is the following:
Since this is a system of equations, you can put it in those steps:
y= 55x+270
y= 35x+ 990
55x+270= 35x+990
55x+270 - 35x-990 = 0
20x+ 270-990 = 0
20x-720= 0
20x= 720
x= 36

270 + 55w = 990 - 35w
Can you solve for w and answer? Remember w is weeks. Problem asks for days.

Not necessary to do system of equations. Just set the equations for the amount of money each has after x weeks equal to each other to find the crossover point. There's really only one variable.11/11/22
