Hi Annie,
One of the significant conflicts that stick out is the rivalry between the two gangs. The Greasers are from the East Side and the Socials are from the West Side. The East Side is where the lower-income families live and therefore the Greaser gang represents the lower-income families, while the Socials who live in the West Side are "rich" and therefore the gang represents the wealthy. There is strife between the two gangs, but there is also discrimination. Throughout the book, people assume that the Greasers are bad kids and that the Socials are good kids because of where they are from and how they look. I hope this explanation sparks your writing!
