Since f(x)=q(p(x)) one must consider evaluate each function within the other.
Start with the most internal function and substitute the x of question in f(x) = 6
p(x) = x-2 → p(6) = 6-2 = 4
Now you are able to utilize 4 as x within the outermost function of q
q(x) = √x → q(p(x)) = q(p(6) = q(4) = √4 = 2
