Use synthetic division to find the quotient and remainder when

 2x^3−9x^2+14x−2 is divided by x−1

2x^3 -4x^2 +14x -2 divided by x-1 = 2x^2 -7x +7 + 5/(x-1)

sometimes it helps to check the synthetic division by also doing long division. If you get the same answer, (which you should), you probably did it right.
