External/Internal Validity

- Groups are put in: control (non-meditation) and experimental (meditation) group to measure out if meditation can lower stress levels in college students.

- Sampling procedures: self-selected sample as the participants were chosen on a voluntary basis. In the psychology classes, 143 and 203A, all students were asked, and the majority agreed to participate in the study

The study mentioned may have low external validity because of the fact that the participants came from only psychology classes. Due to this, the study isn't as generalizable to all college students. To assess the internal validity of the study, more information would be needed. If the selection is not random, it will have low internal validity. We would also need to see how the data is being collected in order to check the internal validity.
