How do you solve an logarithmic equation with 2 unknown variables?

Y= 8 log2 (1 + x/5)

Doug C.

There are infinitely many (x,y) ordered pairs that make this equation true, so you cannot really "solve" the equation. You could solve for x in terms of y. If you wanted to find the inverse function the strategy would be to interchange x and y, then solve for y, The inverse function would contain an exponential term base 2. Try and clarify what exactly you mean by "solve".
