Factor out the negative of the greatest common factor.

-x² - 7x + 2

-1 is your greatst common factor.

If you pull out a -1 you would get

-1(x^2 +7x -2)

To check try to multiply the -1 through you would see that -1(x^2) = -x^2

-1(7x) = -7x and -1(-2) = +2
