The Zionist movement goes back to Theodore Hertzel, who lived in Central Europe and was a newspaper reporter.
The movement called Palestine the religious home of the Jewish people and the home that they were expelled from after the Second Temple was destroyed and they moved to other countries..this is called the Diaspora.
For centuries the Jewish people have recited prayers to take them back to their ancestral home, Jerusalem which was and is in the former country of Palestine which was ruled by successive countries, Britain being the last in the 1940's.
With the Holocaust killing 6 million Jews, an impetus was made by the Jewish leaders living in Palestine to create the independent democratic state of Israel.
In 1948, when the UN declared Israel as an independent country and thecUSA recognizing its statehood, the Palestaini leaders and surrounding Islamic countries made war on Israel. The war for Independence was won by the Israelis, and the Palestinians fled the country to other areas feeling their country was stolen from them.
Thus the bad feelings between them which shows itself with ongoing rockets and killings between tthehe two .
Gaza, LEBANON, and Syria are strongholds of anti Israeli terrorists and there has been no signing of a long lasting peace or a decision to give Palestine their own state.
