OK, its hard putting all the conversions into this field, BUT...
Given:
1 Joule is = 1 kg m2 / s2.
CH4 = 16.0 g/mol
1mi = 1.6093 km
426 mph: this is your precision--- 3 sig figs
K.E. = 1/2 m v2
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
v = 426mi/hr x 1 hr/ 3600 s x 1609 m/1 mi = 190.4 m/s
v2 = 3.63 x 104 m2/s2
m= 1 CH4 x 1 mol CH4/6.02 x 1023 CH4 x 16g CH4 / 1 mol CH4 x 1 kg /1000 g = 2.66 x 10 -26 kg CH4
KE = (½) x (2.66 x 10 -26 kg CH4) x (3.63 x 104 m2/s2 )
KE = 4.83 x 10 -22 J
anyone is welcome to check my math for an error
