It is my opinion that the 1960 protests had a positive effect on the country as they were the basis for discussions with regard to racism, women’s rights, and war. Prior to the protests, most Americans were not involved with aforesaid issues. The negative impact was to split the country and widen what was to be called the “Generation Gap.”
