Future tense + after + past tense

So, I've heard in multiple movies or serieses actors using future tense followed by "after" then past tense, it makes me go nuts not to remember an exact scene, but for example: "I'll tell you after we met". So, I need to know if that's correct and what's that rule called and when to use it. Thanks in advance.
