Get a vocabulary audio training program that uses words in complete sentences. Check online, the library, etc. for a program that suits your need. Most use business vocabulary. My favorite is Career Success Vocabulary by Sound Learning Systems, Inc. Verbal facility comes with practice.

There are two time-honored ways to improve your vocabulary.

Speak with native speakers at every possible opportunity. Listen as much as you speak. Maybe even more. Pay close attention to the words and the grammar and even the rhythm of the conversation. The best folks will correct you (gently), the even better ones will ask you to repeat material you're still grasping at.

Read as much as you can. It's fine to gloss over the text and just extract the feeling of the material, but don't let pleasure stop you from circling the words and phrases you don't know. Checking them as you go or wait until your done to dig into the nuances of the language.

A pair of newer ways to boost your language skills is also available to you. Both TV and the Internet can be unending classrooms for passive learning. Watch and listen and take as many notes as you like. You'll be adding vocabulary (new words) but pay attention to the grammar and the syntax.

Great question! Depending on your current level of vocabulary I highly recommend using thesaurus.com (online and there is a phone app). This way you can learn many new vocabulary words by already having a good idea of their meaning. I also suggest you keep a new word vocabulary list (either on a google doc or a word doc or perhaps handwritten notebook). The best way to increase your vocabulary is then to actively use the new word(s) in a conversation. Stay confident!

Another great way to improve your vocabulary is to speak with a native speaker. By having regular sessions with a conversation partner or ESL teacher/tutor, you enjoy a certain level of immersion. Pick a new and interesting (or career relevant) topic for each class and start talking. Your tutor will have vocabulary based on the topic, handouts, visuals, etc. And yes, you should take notes!
