Each contestant will answer 50 questions: 20 in mathematics, 10 in current events, 15 in science, and 5 in social sciences. The quiz master will draw each question randomly. Find the probability that the first question that will be drawn is about science or mathematics.

The total number of the students is 50

Mathematics 20/50, current events 10/50, 15/50 and 5/50 in social science.

Using tree diagram the information we be as follows

P(science)= 4/49 and mathematics is 20/50=

Meaning 4/49+20/50=118/245

Using the tree diagram meaning drawing science4/49 and mathematics 20/50.

Final answer is 118/245

If not using tree diagram it will be 5/50+20/50=25/50 or 1/2 answer
