a.) When x= -2 you are plugging in an x value that is going to be less than 0 and according to this equation when x<0 then f(x)=x^2. When you plug -2 in for x you see that f(-2)= (-2)^2 which is 4.
b.) When you plug in x=0, you are falling within the domain x=0 of the piecewise equation. According to the equation this means that f(x)=2. Therefore, f(0)=2.
c.) When x= 2 you are plugging in an x value that is going to be greater than 0 and according to this equation when x>0 then f(x)=2x+1. When you plug 2 in for x you see that f(2)= 2(2)+1, which is 5.
