In problems 1-4, the graph of a function is given. Use the graph to find:
(a) The intercepts, if any
(b) The domain and range
(c) The intervals on which it is increasing, decreasing, or constant
(d) Whether it is even, odd, or neither
- The coordinates are (-4,2),(0,3),(-2,0),(2,0),(4,2)
- The coordiantes are (-3,3),(-1,0),(0,2),(1,0),(3,3)
- The coordiantes are (0,1)
- The corrdinates are (1,0)

Hi,
- The coordinates are (-4,2),(0,3),(-2,0),(2,0),(4,2)
I solve #1 then you try rest of them. First, show these 5 points on the coordinate plane
a) The intercepts, if any x- int = 2,-2 and y-int is 3
You need to know: [ x-int is the point that graph through of x-axis] AND [ y-int is the point that graph through of y-axis]
(b) The domain and range : domain is { -4,0,-2,2,4 } AND range is { 2 , 3, 0}
In fact, when function has defined an a few points Domain is the set of Xs of those points and range is Ys of points.
(c) The intervals on which it is increasing, decreasing, or constant: the best is put a name for all points
A (-4,2), B(-2,0), C(0,3), D(2,0), E(4,2) now you can say, A to B Dec - B to C Inc - C to D Dec- and D to E Inc
(d) Whether it is even, odd, or neither : this function is even because respect to the y- axis has a symmetry. You need to know when graph has a symmetry respect to the origin this function is ODD and none of these conditions it means neither
Now, it is your turn. you try to solve other questions and review the subjects.
Good Luck,
Minoo
