Milan works  as a tutor for $15an hour and as a waiter for $8

 an hour. This month, he worked a combined total of 101

 hours at his two jobs.Let t be the number of hours Milan worked as a tutor this month. Write an expression for the combined total dollar amount he earned this month.

Milan worked a total of 101 hours. Out of those hours, t hours were spent as a tutor. That means the rest of the hours, 101 - t, were spent as waiter.

Therefore, the total dollar amount Milan earned was the sum of :

1. his earnings as a tutor: 15*t, and
2. his earnings as a waiter: 8*(101-t) = 808 - 8t

Adding those two together, you get: 15t + 808 - 8t = 7t + 808
