Think about the number of degrees in a circle, 360. If you divide 45 into 360 you have 8, which means 8 carriages altogether. Another way to look at it is on my Desmos screen here:

asked 12/07/21You are in an amusement park with your friends. They wish to ride the Ferris wheel but you opted not to ride with them. After loading your friends who are the first in line, the wheel rotates 45˚ counterclockwise and loads another group of riders onto the next cabin. The Ferris wheel is currently loading its fourth group of riders when the system shuts down. To rescue your friends, they have to climb down using a rope ladder. Suppose the hub or the central part of the Ferris wheel is at the origin of a Cartesian Plane and the loading cabin is along its negative y-axis. You observe that a cabin’s roof is approximately 10 feet away from the center of the wheel.
1. If the wheel rotates 45˚ counterclockwise to load one cabin from another, how many cabins does the Ferris wheel have? Justify your answer
