An aluminum alloy containing 48% aluminum is to be made by combining 30% and 60% alloy. How many pounds of the 60% alloy must be added to 24 pounds of the 30% alloy to produce the desired aluminum alloy?

60% alloy = 0.6 amount: x

30% alloy = 0.3. amount: 24 pounds

48% alloy = 0.48 amount: (x + 24 lbs)

0.6x + (0.3 * 24) = 0.48 (x + 24)

0.6x + 7.2 = 0.48x + 11.52

0.12x = 4.32

x = 36lbs of 60% alloy
