Korea has a collectivist culture and this can be seen in their style of advertising.
In an individualistic culture (example: USA, Germany), things that make you special or stand out are often high-value traits, whereas in a collectivist culture the opposite is true. People tend to cooperate and strive to work together in a collectivist culture, whereas in an individualistic culture, independence and free thinking are valued.
In advertising practices, you will note that in Korea celebrity endorsements are extremely common. This has to do with social power distance and conformity - "if a person so valuable to my society likes this product, I should conform and buy it too" is a relatively more effective ad technique in Korea than it is in the West, although it is used in the West too, especially with athletes for some reason.
