asked 11/30/21How to apply to become a tutor
Hi there!
My name is Francis Cast. Currently I am a senior in College with a major in Creative Writing getting ready to graduate. I am looking to become an online tutor to help teach businesses, students, bloggers, and all kinds of people to help them become a better writer! My area of expertise includes grammar, creative writing, editing, and writing essays. Hoping to better understand how to become a tutor so I can help begin my dream career of working with writing.
Let me know if this is helpful and what I need to do to become a tutor.
Cheers,
Francis

Hello Francis,
Welcome to the wonderful world of online tutoring on (and off) WyzAnt!
To become an online tutor with WyzAnt: you first need to create and submit a tutor profile with the network and then wait for it to get approved by them. Click the link that says "Become a Tutor" when you log on to WyzAnt's homepage, www.wyzant.com. After that, you need to get certified to become an online tutor specifically, which has another layer of (basic) professional requirements than does being an in-person tutor. Luckily, the requirements for becoming a certified online tutor with WyzAnt have decreased from what they used to be due to the increasing demand for online tutoring since Covid began.
Once your online tutor profile gets approved and you become certified as an online tutor on/by WyzAnt, you can then highlight your specific areas of professional academic instructional expertise to begin marketing yourself and your tutoring services to the public at large worldwide. Depending on the given academic subject of your choosing, you will either need to take a multiple-choice qualifications test issued by WyzAnt in order to prove your skill set and knowledge in the given subject matter before you will be "certified to teach it" online at WyzAnt. Alternatively, you will simply need to submit your professional qualifications for the selected subject matter in writing and wait for them to get approved accordingly by WyzAnt.
There are some other more technical steps that you will also need to take en route to becoming a WyzAnt online tutor. Most of them are pretty self-explanatory. In the event that you get confused along the way, feel free to reach out to WyzAnt Support and they will be happy to help you at the given moments in the tutor application process.
Good luck overall! Cheers, fellow online tutor!
