Why mental health counseling is underestimated? Why psychologists have such a low pay while insvesting so much in their work mentally?

Psychology, the growing field is necessary in not only today's society but probably has been always useful. I've this question, why these people are not getting enough paid and often exploited by companies? When will government take step to raise the awareness about mental health just like it does for physical health? When will the psychologists get their deserved position in their society?

It is recommended to join your local county or state psychology professional organization which often do a lot of advocacy work on behalf of its members.
