Hi Shamiera,
The goal here is to combine like terms and solve for X. 3x+3/2+3=3-12x+18
3/2 + 3 = 3/2 + 6/2 = 9/2
and 3 + 18 = 21 We therefore have 3x + 9/2 = -12x + 21. Now add 12x to both sides
+12x. +12x
15x + 9/2 = 21. Subtract 9/2 from both sides and you get
15x = 21 - 9/2. get common denominator so that you can subtract the fractions
15x = 42/2 - 9/2
15x = 33/2. Now you multiply both sides by 1/15 (divide by 15)
X = 33/2 * 1/15
X = 11/10
I'm guessing you probably need to review working with fractions.
I hope this helps.
