About Audrey

Dear potential student,

First let me say, that I absolutely love tutoring. I tutor full time from Elementary all the way through College Algebra, including SAT, ACT math. I have been tutoring Home schooled and traditional students for over 15 years. Mostly math but also some English as well. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Actuarial Science from Drake University. Therefore, I have studied quite a bit of math and statistics in addition to passing several Actuarial exams. In addition to tutoring, I have also home schooled all subjects for over fifteen years and have taught Math and English at local schools. This has kept me fresh and up to date with the changes taking place in academia. I also have experience working with Florida Virtual School (FLVS).

I enjoy engaging you, the student in the learning process. I am great at helping you to find your weakness, so that you can become a better student.

Most of the students that I tutor generally need homework help or help understanding a particular concept. However, I also help students focus on their weak areas.

My Philosophy is one of doing everything I can to help you understand, in the manner that you learn best.

Best Regards,

Audrey B.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

You can learn the techniques to do well on the SAT/ACT test. If you have had Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry you can learn the techniques. Because I have tutored these subjects for years, I can teach you the best way to approach a particular problem. Let me show you how. I will give you honest feedback about your progress depending on your level of Math proficiency. Don't delay. The sooner you start, the better.

Algebra 1

I also have a Bachelor of Science Degree where I majored in Actuarial Science. It involves quite a bit of math.

Algebra 2

Have you passed Algebra 1 and Geometry? Then don't stress about Algebra 2. You can learn it. Because I have tutored these subjects for years, I can teach you the best way to approach a particular problem. I use a blend of techniques to help you understand the concept. Maybe, you don't care about Algebra 2 but you need it to graduate, that's fine. Let me help you to get through it.

Elementary Math

I have taught and tutored Math for many years. I have over 13 years of home-schooling experience.

GED

Passing the GED is an important step in furthering your career. Let me help you. Because I have home schooled all subjects for over 15 years as well as taught Math and English, I am familiar with the subject matter on the GED test. We would take a step by step approach to help you understand the different areas and pinpoint exactly what you need to know. If you only need help in one area, say Math, that's okay as well. Let's get it done!

Geometry

Have you passed Algebra 1 ? Then don't stress about Geometry. You can learn it. Because I have tutored these subjects for years, I can teach you the best way to approach a particular problem. I use a blend of techniques, including the internet, to help you understand the concept. Maybe you struggled through Algebra 1. That's okay. Geometry is more visual anyway.

Prealgebra

I've been tutoring and teaching Math for over 15 years. I recently taught Intermediate Math at a Private school. I stay current in Pre-Algebra by tutoring but also taking online assessments on a continual basis to stay sharp.

Public Speaking

In addition to taking speech in college, I participated in a summer long ToastMasters program as an Intern and won best speaker of my group. Things I would help you with include: Preparing what to say for your particular audience, how to dress as to not detract from what you are saying, how to speak clearly and not use a monotone voice, maintaining eye contact, using gestures and movements that are natural, using notes with key words to avoid reading, how to present within the time allotted, how to anticipate questions and prepare for them and last but not least, how to practice, practice practice.

SAT Math

You can learn the techniques to do well on the SAT/ACT test. If you have had Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry you can learn the techniques. Because I have tutored these subjects for years, I can teach you the best way to approach a particular problem. Let me show you how. I will give you honest feedback about your progress depending on your level of Math proficiency. Don't delay. The sooner you start, the better.

Track & Field

I have competed in Track and Field for over 11 years, competitively. I was mainly a sprinter, obtaining a full scholarship to Drake University (home of the Drake Relays) for four years.
I trained in New York City, prior to college, traveling to different states to compete. I have competed in numerous competitions including Penn Relays, Colgate Women's Games, and the Drake Relays to name a few.
I could help with everything from warm-ups and stretching, to work-outs, strength training and form. I have also helped to coach a few school teams in the South Florida area.
