The chemical formula-NaHCO3(Sodium hydrogen carbonate) is baking soda. The chemical formula consists of 4 different types of elements-Sodium, Hydrogen, Carbon and Oxygen. To answer your question baking soda is a compound because it is made up of 4 different types of elements(pure substances)chemically bonded. Baking Soda is an ionic compound, which means it will have an extremely high melting point.
