This is a great question!

While there are many examples of business people who had success with their first attempt, it is more often the case that people learn best through failure. "Persistence without insight will lead to the same result." We must continually be learning and adapting to be successful. This is true in many areas (e.g. academics, relationships, career), not just business.

Is failure necessary? No.

Is it beneficial? If you learn from your mistakes and try again, yes.
