Work out the component of the weight
A van has a weight of 16kN and is parked on a road inclined at 12 degrees to the horizontal. How big is the component of the weight which is trying to pull the trolley down the hill? Give your answer to 2 significant figures.
⁄
⁄
⁄θ = 12º
—————
ΣFx = -16kN sin12º + Fx = max = 0
ΣFy = N - mg cosθ
= N - 16kN cos12º = may = 0
How does the van turn into a trolley?
