A garden hose attached with a nozzle is used to fill a 10 gallon bucket. The inner dia of the hose is 2 cm and it reduces to 0.8 cm at the nozzle exit. If it takes 50 seconds to fill the water bucket what is the mass flow rate of water through the hose.
mdot = ρ x V x A
Or...
10 gallon * 3.76 L / gallon * 1000mL/L * 1 g/ 1mL = 37,600 grams H2O per 50 seconds
So...
37.6 kg / 50s = 0.752 kg/s
