Two-point form of the equation of a line:
y – y1 = m(x – x1) where m = slope
y – y1 = [ (y2 – y1)/(x2 – x1) ] (x – x1)
and (2,3) and (6,5) are points on the line. Plugging in the values,
y – 3 = [ (5 – 3)/(6 – 2) ] (x – 2)
y - 3 = (1/2)(x-2)
g(x) = (1/2)x + 2
Check:
Does 3 = (1/2)(2) + 2 ?
3 = 3 ? yes
Does 5 = (1/2)(6) + 2 ?
5 = 3 + 2 ?
5 = 5 ? yes
