Must be the numerators and denominators have the same meaning, always you have three given information then you need to find the answer of question.
ratio = the number of students / the number of computers => 12 /2 = how many students/ 6 computers
12 / 2 = x / 6 after cross multiplication you will have:
6 * 12 = 2 x both sides divided by 2:
36 = x
