My younger brother needs help with this Math problem, how can I explain it to him so he understands it better?

The ratio of employees to computers in a certain company is 12 to 2. If there are 6 computers in the company, how many employees are there?

If The ratio of employees to computers in a certain company is 12 to 2. then there is one computer for 6 employees (12/2 = 6)

employee/computer rate is 6;

If there are 6 computers; then there are 6*6 =36 employees

Must be the numerators and denominators have the same meaning, always you have three given information then you need to find the answer of question.

 ratio = the number of students / the number of computers => 12 /2 = how many students/ 6 computers

                                                           12 / 2 = x / 6 after cross multiplication you will have:

                                                           6 * 12 = 2 x  both sides divided by 2:

                                                             36 = x


