asked 07/17/21How do you view these themes? Persuasive essay.
• The last time his servant sees him alive in Le Fanu’s “Green Tea,” Mr. Jennings is sitting in a chair in his bedroom late at night and in complete darkness, but he is wearing his normal daytime clothing. This moment might seem minor, but it touches on two important themes: Jennings’s increasing isolation from the rhythms of normal daily life, and the imagery of darkness that increases as the story progresses. Write about one or both of these themes. Use evidence from the text. 5 PAGES DOUBLE SPACED (I will handle the style). Due by midnight 21 July 2021.

Jennings illustrates isolation in everyday routines by showing the reader images that are slightly ajar to the norms of healthy, well-rounded life. One sleeps in pajamas, not working clothes. First, this is unsanitary as we collect germs from the streets and offices we frequent. Second, this would ruin one's clothes. Lastly, it's uncomfortable to sleep in tight-fitting durable clothing that are often made of coarser material. He is also working in bed, not sleeping. This is problematic for a number of reasons. Lastly, he is alone, not with family. This image is one of a work acholic, someone who has extended work hours long past a healthy limit.
I'm sure there are more reasons to elaborate on, but I hope this helps you!
