Biodiversity includes all the different kinds of living things that you find in one area, habitat, or ecosystem. Most of the foods you mentioned need a warmer climate in which to grow than we have in the U.S. The South American countries, Bahamas, Philippines, etc. are closer to the equator thereby getting more direct sunlight, having a warmer climate, and getting more precipitation than we do in the states. As a result, the U.S. has to import the majority of fruits and nuts that those countries can provide. However, it is possible to grow such foods in areas that have been designated as USDA Zones 10-11 where the average daytime temperature is about 77°F and never drops below 50.
