I encourage you to take a note from scary movies:
The scariest/most-exciting parts are the parts we can't see.
If you have a roadmap for the story, then just start writing. Don't feel the need to explain what EXACTLY is happening each step of the way. Rather, think about what it would be like to experience this world, to truly understand it, and then write what comes to mind.
