The promises mentioned in Hebrews 11:13 dealt with the promise of future blessings for staying faithful to God. They would include land inheritances, peaceful conditions and large families to with to share blessings with. Most of the people mentioned in this chapter of the Bible, often called the chapter of faith by serious Bible students, lived before Job. This is vital because Job expressed the thought that a man could die, and yet live again at Job 14:14,15. The wording Job used indicates that he did not expect to die and then instantly be raised up to live in Heaven. Instead, he had faith that the dead would be brought back to life on earth. Their promises would be fulfilled during the time that Revelation 21:3-5 describes as when death, mourning, outcries and pain would be no more. Since these things never happened in Heaven, they would take place on the earth. It is during this future time period that the Bible is referring to in Hebrews chapter 11.
