M=3S Man is currently 3 times as old as his Son. M=Man's current age, S=Son's current age
In 8 years, the Man is 2.45 times his Son's age
M+8 = 2.45(S+8)
M+8 = 2.45S+ 19.6
3S+8 = 2.45S +19.6
3S-2.45S = 19.6 -8
0.55S = 11.6
S= 11.6/5.5 = 21.1 years old
M=3(2.11) = 63.3 years old
after 8 years M=71.3 and S=29.1
after 16 years M= 79.3 and S=37.1
their ratio of ages in 16 years is 79.3:37.1 = 79.3/37.1 =about 2.137
In 16 years the man will be 2.137 times as old as his son
